About SW Domiciliary Care
We’re a Cheltenham-based home care team, CQC-registered and rated Good. Here’s who we are and what we stand for.
This page covers everything you need to know about SW Care home care, from our history to how we work today.
SW Domiciliary Care is a home care company in Cheltenham founded on a simple belief: everyone deserves to feel safe, comfortable and independent in their own home. Since July 2018, we have been delivering compassionate domiciliary care across Cheltenham and Nearby Towns, helping families navigate some of life’s most difficult transitions with dignity and warmth.
We are proud to be rated Good by the Care Quality Commission, recognised as a Top 20 Home Care Group 2025 by Homecare.co.uk, and trusted by NHS Gloucestershire Health & Care Foundation Trust to deliver care in the community.
Our Story
SW Care was born from the needs of elderly people in Cheltenham. Our founders witnessed first-hand how loved ones struggled with the challenges of ageing, the frustration of losing independence, the worry that weighed on families, and the gap between what people needed and what was actually available.
That experience changed everything. Rather than accept the status quo, we set out to build a home care provider that genuinely put people first. Not with empty promises, but with properly trained carers, real qualifications, and an approach that treats every client like family.
On 5 July 2018, SW Domiciliary Care Ltd opened its doors in Cheltenham. From those first few clients, we have grown into a highly rated home care provider, with a 9.8 out of 10 rating from 100+ verified family reviews on Homecare.co.uk.
“From the very first phone call, we felt listened to. The team took time to understand Mum’s routine, her likes and dislikes, and matched her with a carer who felt like part of the family.” – Margaret T., daughter of client in Cheltenham
Our Mission and Values
Our mission is straightforward: to empower every person we support to live the life they choose, in the home they love, with the dignity they deserve.
We call it our Empowering Care Approach. It guides everything we do, from the way we recruit and train our carers, to the way we write care plans, to the way we communicate with families.
Our values are:
- Dignity first. Every person we care for is treated with respect, patience and kindness. We follow their lead, not the other way round.
- Quality without compromise. We support our carers to educate themselves through NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications, as well as train every carer we have in all 16 Care Certificate standards.
- Transparency and trust. Families receive regular updates through our digital care platform. You always know how your loved one is doing.
- Flexibility. Care needs change. Our plans adapt, whether you need an extra visit, a different time, or a completely new approach.
- Local roots. We are a Cheltenham company serving Cheltenham families. Our carers live in and around the town, and our office on Cambray Place is always open for a conversation.
What Makes Us Different
Choosing a home care provider is one of the biggest decisions a family can make. Here is what sets SW Care apart from other domiciliary care providers in Cheltenham and Nearby Towns.
We Support Real Qualifications
Every carer completes the Care Certificate, 16 core standards covering everything from safeguarding to infection control, before they attend their first client visit. Beyond that, we support our carers to continue their care education by completing their NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications. We invest in professional development because better-trained carers deliver better care.
Fully Digitised Care
Our care team uses a secure mobile platform that provides real-time updates, digital care plans, visit schedules and medication records. This means nothing falls through the cracks. It also means families can stay connected and informed, even from a distance.
Every Carer is Enhance DBS Checked
Every new employee has to complete an enhanced DBS check before starting. And existing carers are rechecked periodically. We also ensure our carers have business car insurance for their vehicles used during care visits. These are examples of how we make sure we are a responsible employer.
Dementia Care Experience
Our carers are experienced in dementia care, and as an organisation, we support Dementia Friends through the Alzheimer’s Society programme. Additionally, we provide ongoing professional development through our Flourish digital training platform.
Trusted by Families and the NHS
We work in strong working relationship with NHS Stroke Early Discharge Team Gloucestershire Health & Care Foundation Trust, supporting patients with hospital discharge care from NHS Cheltenham Stroke discharge team. Being trusted by the NHS is not a badge we take lightly, it reflects the high standards of care we maintain every day.
Our Awards and Recognition
We believe in earning trust through results, not marketing. Here is what independent bodies and real families say about SW Care:
- CQC Rated Good. Our most recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated us Good across all categories. Our CQC registration number is 1-6720068087. You can view our full report on the CQC website.
- Top 20 Home Care Group 2025. Recognised by Homecare.co.uk as one of the top 20 home care groups in the United Kingdom, based on verified family reviews.
- 9.8 out of 10 rating. Across 121 verified family reviews on Homecare.co.uk, families consistently rate our care, communication and reliability at the highest level.
“We looked at several care companies before choosing SW Care. The difference was obvious, they actually train their carers properly, and it shows. Dad’s carer knows exactly what she’s doing, and he looks forward to her visits.” – David R., son of client in Leckhampton
These achievements reflect the dedication of our entire team, from our Registered Manager who oversees care quality, to every carer who walks through a client’s front door with a smile.
Serving Cheltenham and Nearby Towns
Our office is in the centre of Cheltenham, and our care team covers the town and surrounding areas. We provide personal care, dementia care, companionship care, live-in care, overnight care, hospital discharge care, complex care and respite care to families across the region.
Whether you live in Charlton Kings, Leckhampton, Prestbury, Pittville, Lansdown or any of the surrounding villages, our locally based carers can be with you quickly, and we work to begin care as soon as possible once your care plan is agreed.
We work closely with local healthcare services including the Cheltenham NHS Stroke Team who are connected to Hospital discharges from Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucester Royal Hospital.

Our Approach to Care Planning
Every care journey at SW Care begins with listening. Before a single visit takes place, our senior carer or care coordinator meets your loved one at home. This assessment covers daily routines, medical conditions, dietary needs, cultural preferences and personal likes and dislikes.
From this conversation, we write a personalised care plan that is unique to your family member. It is not a generic template. It reflects the person, their habits, their preferences and the outcomes that matter most to them.
Care plans are stored digitally on our secure platform. Every carer reviews the latest version before each visit, so they arrive fully briefed. If anything changes, whether a new medication, a shift in mobility, or a change in routine, we update the plan immediately and notify the team.
We also conduct regular care plan reviews, at least every three months and more frequently if needs are changing. These reviews involve the client, family members and, where relevant, GP surgeries or community nursing teams across Gloucestershire.
This structured approach means nothing falls through the gaps. Families tell us that the detail in our care plans gives them real confidence. They know their loved one receives consistent, high quality support at every visit.
Our digital platform also supports family communication. Even if you live far from Cheltenham, you can stay informed about your loved one’s care. Visit times, completed tasks, carer observations and medication records are all logged in real time.
We believe that great care starts with great planning. That is why we invest significant time in the assessment and care planning process, before the first carer walks through the door. It is this attention to detail that sets the foundation for the trusted, long term relationships our carers build with every client.

We Visit. We Listen. We Plan.
We come to your parent’s home — not an office, not a hospital. We sit down, learn their routine, what matters to them, and what worries you. Then we build a care plan around their life — not a template. If you’re paying privately, we’ll work within your budget. No surprises.

03
Your Parent Gets Their Own Small Team
We match a small team of carers to your parent — people they’ll actually look forward to seeing. They arrive on time, every time. You get updates on the app after every visit. Same familiar faces at the door. No strangers. And for the first time in months, you can breathe.
