Our CQC Rating: Rated Good
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. When you choose a home care provider for your parent, the CQC rating is your most reliable guide to whether that provider is safe, effective, and well-run. SW Care is CQC registered (provider ID: 1-6720068087) and rated Good across all five inspection areas. This page explains what that means for your family.
This page forms part of our governance policies at SW Care, reflecting our commitment to transparency and accountability.
What Is the CQC?
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of health and social care services in England. Every home care provider in England must be registered with the CQC before they can legally deliver personal care.
The CQC inspects services against a set of fundamental standards laid out in the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. These standards cover everything from the safety and suitability of staff to the quality of care planning and the leadership of the organisation.
CQC inspections are carried out by trained inspectors who visit the service, speak with clients and their families, interview staff, and review documentation. The resulting report is published publicly so that anyone choosing a care provider can make an informed decision.
Our Latest Inspection
SW Care has been rated Good by the CQC. This rating confirms that our home care services in Cheltenham meet the high standards expected by the regulator across all five key areas of inspection.
Our CQC registration number is 1-6720068087. You can view our full inspection report on the CQC website at any time, we believe in complete transparency.
We do not treat inspection as a one-off event. Our approach to compliance is continuous, with ongoing internal audits, staff training, and quality monitoring designed to ensure we are always inspection-ready.
What “Good” Means for You
A CQC rating of Good means that our service meets the fundamental standards of quality and safety. For you and your family, it provides independent assurance that:
- Your care will be delivered safely, with proper risk assessments and safeguarding procedures in place.
- The care you receive will be effective, based on evidence-based practice and delivered by trained professionals.
- Our carers are genuinely caring, treating every client with dignity, respect, and compassion.
- We are responsive to your individual needs, preferences, and feedback.
- Our service is well-led, with clear leadership, strong governance, and a culture of continuous improvement.
A Good rating is not a minimum standard, it reflects a service that consistently delivers quality care. Our ambition is to exceed this standard at every opportunity.
The Five Key Questions
The CQC assesses every care provider against five key questions. Here is how SW Care performs in each area.

Are Services Safe?

We ensure safety through enhanced DBS checks for every carer, comprehensive risk assessments, robust medication management procedures, and clear safeguarding policies. Every incident is reported, investigated, and used as a learning opportunity.
Are Services Effective?

Our carers complete the Care Certificate (15 core modules) before their first client visit. We fund NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications and provide ongoing training through our Flourish digital platform. Care plans are personalised and regularly reviewed.
Are Services Caring?

Our 9.8 out of 10 rating on homecare.co.uk, based on 121 verified family reviews, speaks to the compassion and dedication of our care team. We were recognised as a Top 20 Home Care Group 2025, an award voted for by the families we support.
Are Services Responsive?

Every client has a personalised care plan developed in partnership with them and their family. We conduct regular reviews, welcome feedback, and have a clear complaints procedure to ensure concerns are addressed promptly.
Are Services Well-Led?

Our Registered Manager oversees all care delivery, supported by a fully digitised care system. We have clear governance policies, regular audits, and a culture that encourages openness, learning, and continuous improvement.
How We Stay Inspection-Ready
Many providers treat CQC compliance as a periodic exercise, preparing in the weeks before an inspection and relaxing afterwards. We operate differently.
Our governance framework ensures we are inspection-ready at all times. This means maintaining accurate, up to date records for every client, every carer and every incident. Our Registered Manager conducts monthly internal audits covering care plan quality, medication administration records, staff training compliance and safeguarding documentation.
We track key performance indicators that directly align with CQC expectations. These include missed visit rates, medication error rates, complaint response times and staff supervision completion rates. When we identify a trend, we act on it before it becomes a problem.
Every carer receives regular spot checks where their practice is observed and assessed against our standards. Feedback is given immediately, and any areas for development are addressed through targeted training.
We actively seek client and family feedback through satisfaction surveys, care plan reviews and our digital platform. This feedback feeds directly into our quality improvement cycle.
Being CQC Rated Good is not a destination. It is a standard we work to maintain and exceed through daily practice.
