Join the SW Care Team

Compassionate, reliable people who want to make a real difference. That is who we are looking for.

Join the SW Care Family

You do not need qualifications. You do not need experience. What you need is the right attitude β€” patience, kindness, and a genuine desire to help someone live well at home.

If you have spent time looking after a parent, a grandparent, or a family member β€” you already have skills that matter more than any certificate. Many of our best carers started exactly where you are now. Unpaid carers who decided to turn their experience into a career they love.

We are a CQC-rated Good home care provider, a Top 20 Home Care Group 2025, and rated 9.8/10 on Homecare.co.uk. Since July 2018, we have built a team of dedicated carers who choose to stay because they feel valued, supported, and proud of the work they do.

We do not offer sponsorship visas. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and live in or near Cheltenham.

Why Carers Choose SW Care

There are plenty of care jobs in Cheltenham. Here is why carers choose us β€” and why they stay.

  • Real Living Wage β€” not the bare minimum. Your time is worth proper pay.
  • Care Certificate Training β€” Care Certificate standards completed before your first client. You will never feel unprepared.
  • NVQ Level 2 and 3 β€” government-funded qualifications you can opt into. Real credentials for your career.
  • DBS Check Funded β€” we cover the full cost. You should not have to pay to prove your character.
  • Flexible Hours β€” mornings only, school hours, part-time, or full-time. We build rotas around your life.
  • Consistent Clients β€” you build genuine bonds with the same people. No strangers every day.
  • Fully Digitised β€” mobile app for schedules, care plans, and visit logging. No paper timesheets.
  • 28 Days Paid Holiday β€” pro rata. Plus workplace pension.
  • A Team That Has Your Back β€” our office at Harley House, Cambray Place is always there when you need support.

Training and Development

We believe great care starts with great training. That is not a slogan β€” it is how we operate.

Before Your First Client

Every new carer completes the full Care Certificate β€” 16 standards covering safeguarding, infection control, communication, privacy, and person-centred care. You also shadow experienced carers on real visits before working independently. You start with confidence, not anxiety.

Ongoing Development

Once established, you can opt into NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 β€” government-funded, nationally recognised qualifications. We also offer condition-specific training in dementia care, palliative care, moving and handling, and medication management. As your career develops, your training develops with it.

Career Progression

Care work is not a dead end. Carers at SW Care progress into senior carer roles, care coordinator positions, and management. Several of our current team leaders started as visiting carers with no previous experience. Read more about training

Questions Carers Ask Us

Honest answers to the things people want to know before they apply.

Do I need experience to apply?

No. Many of our best carers came to us with no formal care experience. If you have looked after a parent, grandparent, or family member, you already have the instincts we value most. We provide full training before you see your first client.

Do I need qualifications?

No qualifications are required. We train every new carer through the Care Certificate Standards before they start. If you want to progress, you can opt into government-funded NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications.

Do I need a car?

Yes. A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for visiting carer roles.

What hours are available?

We offer mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Part-time and full-time positions are available. We build rotas around your life, not the other way round.

How much will I earn?

We pay the Real Living Wage as a minimum. Visiting carers earn Β£13.70–£20.55 per hour. Live-in carers earn up to Β£130 per day. You also get paid travel time and mileage between clients.

Do you offer visa sponsorship?

No. We do not offer sponsorship visas. You must have the right to work in the UK and live in or near Cheltenham.

What does a typical day look like?

You visit clients in their own homes, helping with personal care, medication prompts, meals, companionship, and light housework. You build real relationships with the same people. Read more: What Does a Home Carer Do?

How long does the application process take?

We review applications within 24–48 hours. After an informal chat and meeting the team, you complete a DBS check (we pay), then a two-week paid induction. Most carers start within 2–4 weeks of applying.

Will I be on my own?

Never without support. You shadow experienced carers before working independently. Our office team at Harley House is always available by phone. You have a care plan for every client and a digital app with everything you need.

Ready to Start Your Career in Care?

No experience needed. Just compassion, reliability, and a driving licence. We handle the rest.
